Inner peace and world peace meditation (Online & Tienhoven)

Let's meditate together for inner peace and for world peace.

World Peace Meditations have been organized since 1986 (eg by John Randolph Price), with the aim of finding peace in ourselves, our environment and the world worldwide. On World Day of Peace, he created a moment of unity to dissolve the sense of separation and return humanity to the deity. Hundreds of millions of people participated, from all backgrounds and religions, and whatever everyone's views, it marked a new beginning in the restoration of this world to sanity.

City lighting

Cities of Light is a similar Dutch initiative, to promote a culture of enlightenment. Every second Sunday of the month, people meditate in living rooms all over the world.

Movement Meditation

Before starting your busy week, take some time to meditate together. You can participate online or on site. Before and after the mediation we tell you how we feel.

Sitting still is quite difficult for most people because we are used to being exposed to stimuli all day, while your body needs exercise. Movement Meditation ensures that you quickly find inner peace and that your attention returns to yourself. You make an inner journey through an alternation of intensive and subtle movement. By focusing attention on your body, you experience what is going on inside you.

After the meditation you can tell how you feel. There is also the option for playful self-touch afterwards. This takes place in a separate break-out room and is not supervised. By consciously touching yourself, you create a feeling of relaxation, self-love and pleasure.

Breath Meditation

Connecting with your breath can reduce stress and open the door to a healthier and more mindful lifestyle. One of the easiest ways to reduce stress is to simply focus on your breathing. You immediately notice a feeling of relaxation that can eventually make you feel healthier and fitter.

There are many other forms of breathing meditation where you consciously listen to your breath or change the rhythm, rate, or depth of your breath. These forms of breath meditation can be an entrance to the practice of "mindfulness," where you learn to accept and appreciate what comes into life and stop fighting your own thoughts and feelings.

We will breathe together and then listen to the silence. At the end there is a sub-circle. There is then an opportunity to share how you feel and what is going on in your life.

Practical Information

In Tijs's cozy living room on the banks of the Maarsseveense Plassen you can participate and be taken into the world of mindfulness and inner stillness. You can also participate online via Zoom. The meetups are mixed (all are welcome, all genders, all orientations, all ages, experienced or not) and clothing optional, so you can decide whether you want to participate wearing shorts, leggings, underwear or nude.

A good friend wrote to me: The book of this title by Zen teacher and peacemaker Thich Nhat Hanh (nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize) is before me. He taught me mindfulness and I could almost touch him in the early XNUMXs when he visited a meditation center in the Netherlands. He taught me to meditate and the teachings of the Buddha. Do you want to completely relax for a weekend, without having to travel far? Do you need time for deep relaxation, time for yourself to let go of the daily stress? Christian and Tijs offer you a weekend city retreat to give yourself this gift. It is an ideal opportunity to connect with your body, enjoy touch and find peace and quiet in your head. You will be completely pampered with fun yoga exercises and we give each other wonderful relaxing massages. This way you will enter the autumn with a healthy inner harmony.

You will come into closer contact with yourself this weekend. The combination of massage and playful yoga brings you more balance for your body and mind. You open your senses, you experience how nice it is to move, stretch, sweat and make your body warm and full of energy. And you also discover how pleasant touch is, in an atmosphere of trust and connection. In addition to yoga and massage, contact and attention exercises are used. We also cleanse our inner self with healthy food that helps to "detoxify" our bodies.

Yoga
Yoga not only gives you peace of mind, it also helps you to let go. Some yoga poses give your organs an inner massage, while other poses lengthen your muscles and tendons. Christian's playful, inquiring and interdisciplinary form of yoga is inspired by ashtanga and vinyasa yoga. With meditation, breathing exercises and postures we work on more body awareness, strength, flexibility and let our energy flow. Some exercises are in pairs, to create connection with each other.

massage
On Saturdays, the flowing massage mainly provides relaxation. We work with Swedish and Californian massage styles and deep tissue techniques. On Sunday we let everything go and we use massage techniques that remove all waste from the muscle and connective tissue and release energetic ballast. We do this with Alchemy of Touch massage and Myofascial Energetic Release.

Sharing
At various times during the weekend there is room for integration, through meditation and sharing your experiences with others.

Facilitators
Tijs Breuer is a life coach and masseur specialized in in-depth bodywork. He works a lot with mindfulness, body awareness and the power of loving attention. Tijs gives weekly workshops in which playful discovery and connection with yourself and the group are central.
Christian Wicke works as a general practitioner and yoga teacher, in ashtanga and vinyasa yoga. He likes to share his insights about and from yoga with others, in group lessons and 1-on-1 settings. In addition to teaching the practicalities of yoga, he also enjoys studying and debating yoga philosophy and its implications for our daily lives.

Eating and staying overnight
We provide lunch and dinner on Saturdays and lunch on Sundays. The workshop only takes place during the day, on Saturday and Sunday. Do you want to stay overnight on site? Then you can rent a guest room for €30. Or you choose a Bed & Breakfast nearby.

Everyone is welcome. This workshop is therefore open to all genders (including non-binary or transgender) and all orientations. Yoga or massage skills are welcome, but not necessary. We have a notaflof policy, so if you want to participate but don't have the money, please contact us directly.

Heart Center Amsterdam is a new venue in the quiet neighborhood of Gein (Gaasperdam, Amsterdam). There is a nice atmospheric group room and two practice rooms. The location also has a front and back garden with a fair amount of privacy, a simple kitchen and three toilets.

The space has recently been furnished and is rented out by Auke Jan Ebbinge and his girlfriend Camille. They provide a hospitable atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, regardless of your gender, origin or (sexual) preference. Workshops are given in the group room in the field of meditation, embodiment, breathwork, tantra, etc. Tijs Breuer has his practice here every Friday.

Our location in the Netherlands and how to get there

Public transport: City bus 47, stop Wamelstraat (2 min walk). Metro 50 or 54 to the Gein stop (5-10 min walk). Car: Good accessibility from A9, A10 and A2. Free parking in front of the door.

Gaasperplas

Just a few minutes' walk from Heart Center Amsterdam is the Gaasperplas and the Gaasperpark. This is a large recreation area where you can run, cycle, walk (with or without a dog) and exercise.

The deep lake has very clean water, so you can swim well. There are several beaches, including a nudist beach.

Massage dance workshops

Every month Hans Roothaert and Tijs Breuer organize a workshop “Massage dance” for men. There are also monthly “purple” massage dance workshops, where both women and men are welcome, guided by Hans and Irene.

Massage dance is an intimate, tranquil dance in which we lovingly caress and massage each other with our whole body. In massage dance movement, dance, touch and massage alternate in playful combinations.

men's evenings

The men's evenings are “clothing-optional”, with or without underwear, with like-minded people. We expect an open attitude and sexual orientation does not matter. The intense body contact often has an erotic charge, especially when oil is also used in body-to-body massage. It is possible that later in the afternoon genitals are also touched, but no sexual act is performed. You are not forced into anything and all touching is based on mutual consent. The structure of the evening ensures a warm, friendly and safe setting. There is as little talk as possible so that we can completely surrender. Every exercise is an invitation to experience something. You are always free to participate or to take a break.

Purple massage dance

The “purple” massage dance is a mixed evening for women and men, with a bisexual touch. You move, dance and massage with each participant, so no male-female couples are formed as in many other massage dance gatherings.

Purple is the color for bisexuality. However, we are not just targeting bisexuals. The intention is that participants can connect with each other without gender preference and also like this. As far as we're concerned, purple also stands for no-nonsense and playfulness. We would like all participants to be active and passive alternately, to take initiative and to be able to receive, to play with their masculine and feminine energy. In the course of the evening the dance will go from active to more still, where making contact with your whole body will be stimulated. Each evening has a playful character, where you will have many different encounters and both give and receive. We would like to ask you to talk as little as possible during the evening. We start with a sarong on. You can choose for yourself what to keep with it.

Location Elst
Most massage dance evenings are private, in the home of Hans, Leo and Irene in Elst (Gld). This place is easily accessible via the Elst exit on the A15. Please pay attention to parking. At our house we have a number of parking spaces on the gravel. Those who stay overnight can park there. Double parking is convenient, so that we have as many cars as possible on our own property. Of course we keep the parking spaces of the neighbors free.
When you go home afterwards or when it is otherwise full, you can park along the road. We live in the countryside and the road is narrow. So please park as much as possible on the verge and on the left (seen from the side that you enter the street from the highway). Just past our house there are two paved areas on the left, just before and just after the white posts. Those places are also convenient. You can also choose to park your car in the side street and walk the last part. That side street is called the Peppelstuk. Also there like the cars all on one side.

What to bring: Comfortable loose clothing and/or a shawl, a bath towel and possibly your own massage oil. Short nails and a freshly showered body are appreciated. For the rest, you don't have to prepare or bring anything with you. There is coffee, tea and soda; tasty snacks to share are appreciated.

Game rules: We invite you not only to stay with 1 person, but to connect with everyone, in pairs or with several. Couples are invited to let go of each other. We also think it is important that everyone is unconditionally open to each other, regardless of gender, appearance and age. Only do what feels right for you. Indicate clearly what your limits and wishes are and tune in to the signals given. Everyone is different, so tune in every time, especially make sure your first touch is soft and tender. Furthermore, it is important that you are together with full attention, without a goal. No sexual acts are performed (so no penetration, not even with fingers). It's okay if you get excited, but we don't do anything about this. We would like to point out that everyone is responsible for his/her own well-being and actions. We are not liable for this. Of course you will come to the evening well-groomed. We assume that you are free of untreated or communicable diseases. If you have any doubts about this, take your responsibility by not coming. It is also important that you wash your hands regularly during the massage dance. This certainly applies (also) after possible contact with genitals to prevent the spread of possible STDs. If you participate, you are expected to meet the stated conditions, to be aware of the complete information and to conform to this massage-dance concept.

Accommodation
During the massage dance evenings in both Elst and Tienhoven it is possible to stay the night afterwards. There are a limited number of sleeping places. Please indicate this in advance, so that we have the places in order. We have mattresses with bedding, but of course you can bring your own bedding/pillow. The contribution for overnight stay with breakfast is normally € 45,00, but for participants of Massagedans a voluntary contribution of at least € 12,50 applies. We have breakfast between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM. After breakfast we say goodbye to each other.

This week I am required in isolation. On New Year's Eve it turned out that I had contracted the latest variant of Corona. So, forced by the situation, I go back to myself, in peace, in silence. My first reaction: that sucks. Everything I planned has to be put aside, appointments cancelled, both work and private. And then comes the realization: although I would rather feel a bit fitter with it, it is actually a gift from heaven!

Allowing myself to really go into silence is a great gift that I never gave myself before. And now I can wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. In silence I can be completely present with what is going on inside me. I can experience what really touches me, my soul stirrings. I see my shadow, my pain, old sorrow, shame and self-reproach. And I smile at it, I embrace those parts of myself that I don't have to hide anymore. I train myself to align with myself deep down. I listen to the aches, tingles and energy flow in my body. I feel what is important to my heart. This way I get to know myself even better.

Effectiveness of massage proven
Unfortunately, massages are not allowed during the current lockdown. Through my trade association NGS I found out that treatments with a medical character can continue. So if you have complaints that can be remedied or relieved with a certain form of massage, this is a reason for an exception to the massage ban. Meditation by sitting still is quite difficult for most people, because we are used to being exposed to stimuli all day long, while your body needs exercise. Movement meditation ensures that you quickly regain your peace and focus more inwardly. You make an inner journey through an alternation of intensive and subtle movement.

My daughter Eva Breuer gives every tuesday night from 20:30 to 21:30 a nice yoga class for all levels, consisting of meditation, breathwork and movement. With meditation we calm the mind and bring ourselves into the present moment. With breathwork we reactivate and balance our pranic body (energy field), releasing the trapped energy so that our life force can flow freely again. With movement (hatha yoga, vinyasa and yin yoga, shaking, dancing) we bring that energy flow throughout our body, stretching, letting go, relaxing and restoring our physical health.

My colleague Mischa van Dullemen has been a dancer and has been teaching yoga since 2005. His classes are accessible, varied and playful. It gives a lot of space to adapt the exercises to your needs and possibilities. He currently offers the following classes via Zoom:
Tuesday 20.30 – 21.45: Yin Yoga (gentle stretches are held for 3 to 5 minutes so plenty of time to relax deeply).
Thursday 10.00 – 11.00 and Friday 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Core Yoga (emphasis on building more strength and flexibility in your back, abdomen, buttocks and hips).
Sunday 9.30 – 10.45: Yang and Yin (first half of the class is active, second half relaxed stretching).

Touching is healthy. It ensures that your happiness hormones oxycotine, serotonin and dopamine are released and stress hormones such as cortisol decrease. Men are sometimes a bit insecure about touching each other, but many are also curious about it, especially to experience this in a safe, defined environment and with careful guidance. MeninTouchNL

I am proud that this small-scale initiative with a few men has now grown to almost 1000 participants. New is dekyoga, massage & play evening in Amsterdam.
