Interview

Before you meet a coaching trajectory starts, we get to know each other during an intake interview.

What is an intake interview for a coaching program?

During this conversation you can talk about the theme, problem or challenge you want to work on. The coach will also tell you something about himself. For example, Tijs Breuer always tells something about his working method and the different forms of coaching that he can apply. This gives you an impression of whether the coach suits you, whether you feel familiar and whether there is enough of a click.

It may be that during the conversation it appears that your wish can be better fulfilled with training, a form of therapy or, for example, with body work. In that case, the coach will refer you.

How can I prepare for an intake interview?

In preparation for the intake interview, you can think about the following questions:

  • How is your situation now, at home, at work, in your relationship?
  • What are you satisfied with and what are you less satisfied with?
  • What would you like to change?
  • What is your goal of the coaching process?
  • What do you want your situation to look like after the process?

Tijs Breuer: I often ask why you are here now, what was your concrete reason? But I also want to know if you've been in similar situations before. And how long you've been running into these things. Perhaps you have received help before or have taken things yourself to change the situation. Then I am curious what you have already tried and what was useful or successful for you. As a coach I try to discover patterns and similarities between your work and private situation. I am also curious about your emotional life.

Goal

Together we describe your goal for the coaching process. You may want to discuss this goal at work or with your partner. After that you may have to adjust the goal. In this way it becomes increasingly clear how you want to develop in the coming period and what contribution the coaching process can make to this.

Offers

If your employer reimburses the coaching process, a quote will be drawn up, which you can submit to your manager or the HRM department. It describes what you and the client can expect from the coaching process. For example, the estimated duration of the process, the frequency of the conversations, the costs, the way of working and some practical agreements. Once the quotation has been signed by you or by your manager or another client, we will get to work.

Three-way conversation

Sometimes we organize a 'three meeting', with your manager or someone from the HRM present. Or with your (life) partner. The quotation is then drawn up or adjusted on the basis of this conversation.
