Trauma processing

Your body is a translation and a mirror of your emotion, your being and well-being. If your body has a trauma, it can mean that it is difficult to get to your body, it does not seem to exist and you mainly live in your head. Your thinking dominates and you experience a feeling of unrest in your body.

For trauma processing you can go to talk therapy, but sometimes talking is not effective. I myself have experienced how unfulfilling conversations with a psychologist can be. Once I chose a body-oriented approach, I experienced for myself how effective this was. How is that possible?

We can speak with words from the conscious memory. Memories without words that express themselves through your body are so-called body memories. These are shown by stiffening, constant unrest, inexplicable pain that settles in the body. Trauma involves unprocessed (mental) pain, which has been fixed at the cell level in the body. By contact in the form of massage, in complete safety and confidence, you can make contact with your unspoken pain in peace. By paying attention to it, it gradually dissolves.

What is important for victims of (sexual) abuse is that the touch is safe. With me, respect, integrity and equality are paramount. The contact can take place both over the clothes and on the bare skin. That means you can slowly get used to making contact, in a way that suits you and is safe for you. Being touched in this way can be very confrontational but also liberating. You can be completely, with everything you have with old pain. In this way, contact can have a healing, therapeutic effect.

The preconditions are then very clear. Whether it is massage, coaching, bodywork or a combination of them, you are the one that matters. Your experience is leading and I am of service to you as a masseur and coach. A session by a certified coach can never lead to abuse, so it is clear from the first moment that it is not about sexuality. This gives you the space to process or rediscover something: what it is like to be touched and that your limits are always respected. That has a healing effect and gives confidence.

We are working step by step on reducing tension. In addition, we use your own resources, such as positive memories, images and feelings. Resources are a reminder of your zest for life, your own strength and joy. They form a powerful basis for relieving stress little by little. I guide you in continuing to follow what is happening. My coaching skills come in handy here. This way you get more feeling and more control over your emotions and your physical reactions.
