Pelvic floor complaints in men

Complaints in the pelvic area do not only occur with women, but also with men. Men, however, tend to pay less attention to it or talk less easily about their complaints. With massage of the pelvic floor and conscious control over the pelvic floor muscles and the muscles in your abdomen, lower back and pelvis you can get rid of your complaints.

I have pain in my pelvic floor. Can massage help with this?

Many men think that problems in the pelvic floor only occur in women. They are ashamed if they have pain in their penis or anus or suffer from urine loss. Yet these complaints are common. I often receive clients who have been referred to a masseur by a pelvic physiotherapist or specialist.

A pelvic floor massage can help prevent and solve problems around the pelvic floor. The muscles in your lower back, abdomen and pelvis play a major role in posture and movement. The pelvic floor muscles have an important task with urinating, making love and relieving. Those muscles can be too weak or too tense. It also happens that they do not do their work at the right time. We are not used to consciously contracting or relaxing the muscles in the pelvic area. We often start to feel them when there is pain.

What are possible causes of complaints in the pelvic area of men?

  • The pelvic floor muscles can be too tense due to, for example, delaying urination for too long, previous problems in the abdominal or pelvic floor area or a certain lifestyle.
  • The pelvic floor muscles can be too weak in the older man or because, for example, there is incorrect lifting during work, prolonged and frequent pressing with the (hardened) stool or due to anal penetration.
  • Pelvic floor muscles can also contract in the wrong way and at the wrong time, for example by pushing during urination, whereby the muscles contract instead of relaxing.

Which complaints can give rise to a pelvic floor massage?

What can Tijs Breuer do for you as a masseur?

We will discuss your complaints during an intake interview. Afterwards, we explore during an introductory massage where your sensitive and painful spots are in the pelvic area. During a follow-up treatment the emphasis may be on reducing muscle tension, releasing blockages and emotions or, for example, internal anal touch, whereby the tension, functions and strength of the pelvic floor muscles are felt through palpation. Such treatments are often intimate. That is why a lot of attention is always paid to safety and trust.

A thought about "Pelvic floor complaints in men"

  1. Hello Tijs
I would like to let you know how I experienced the past days after your treatment. The pain has gone, I no longer have cramps or pains in my pelvis. It really did me good. I must confess that I have not only felt a deep relaxation, but also a strange pleasant tingling in my intimate parts (especially my scrotum / perineum) the last days. I have also experienced certain touches as very erotic, although I normally do not feel any attraction or excitement in contact with men. I also have the feeling that there is less tension in the area of my anus and ischiums. I did have a sensitive anus for two more days, but now that that was gone, I notice that something has really changed inside, in my first and second sphincters. And - don't tell anyone else - I had fantastic sex with my wife. She therefore treats me to a subsequent treatment with you.
