Health questions when making an appointment

If you make an appointment for a treatment, you will always be asked about your health. Health questions are also asked when making an online appointment. Since we want to prevent the spread of the coronavirus together, additional questions have been added.

Prior to treatment, specific conditions are asked during the intake interview. In certain conditions, a massage of certain parts of the body may be undesirable. Think of Asthma, arthritis, bone fractures, diabetes, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, cardiovascular disease, hernia, recovery from surgery, high blood pressure, skin condition, cancer, bruising, low blood pressure, respiratory problems, inflammation, osteoporosis, psychosis, rheumatism or varicose veins.

Furthermore, there may be other important matters that are important for the treatment. For example about your health or mood. Even if you experience pain or discomfort. Or if there are forms of treatment or touch that you prefer not to. The answers to these questions are always kept secret and are not kept for more than 4 weeks.

In addition to these general health questions, you will be asked before the appointment about symptoms of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and whether you belong to a vulnerable group, with the next questions:

  1. Are you part of a vulnerable group for COVID-19?
  2. Have you had one or more of the following complaints in the past 24 hours or at this time: cold, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, mild cough, shortness of breath, elevation, fever and / or sudden loss of smell or taste?
  3. Do you currently have a roommate / family member with a fever and / or shortness of breath?
  4. Have you had the new coronavirus (diagnosed with a lab test) and has it been diagnosed in the past 7 days?
  5. Do you have a roommate / family member with the new coronavirus and did you have contact with him / her less than 14 days ago while he / she still had complaints?
  6. Are you quarantined because you have had direct contact with someone who has been diagnosed with the new corona virus?

Other health questions

Hay fever

If you have to sneeze a lot because you suffer from hay fever, you can in principle just make an appointment for a treatment. If you have hay fever, you have the same complaints every year for about the same period. You can then feel whether it is 'those complaints of the hay fever'. When in doubt whether you may have COVID-19 or if the symptoms feel different, you stay at home. The video below from RIVM can help you determine whether you may have COVID-19 or hay fever.

Ready for 1,5 meters of society

Update Coronavirus COVID-19, May 6, 2020

Good news! From May 11, massages will be given again in the practice of Tijs Breuer. From that date, the practice of contact professions, masseurs, para-medical professions and alternative medicine is permitted in the Netherlands. Where possible, the work is organized at a distance of one and a half meters. We work by appointment, where we discuss beforehand whether the visit poses a risk.

In order to be able to do the work safely and responsibly, Neptunus Wellbeing applies in practice on 1 May 2020 new policy. This already applies to coaching and other treatments without touch. From May 11, 2020, this policy also applies to massages and bodywork. Measures include careful intake and information to clients, good personal hygiene and disinfection of the room. All kinds of precautions had already been taken. The RIVM guidelines were always used as a starting point.

Now that there are also sufficient personal protective equipment available, the practice is fully equipped for the 1,5 meter society. Of course, work will only be done if both I and you have no complaints of a cold, cough or fever. Through NGS (trade association for sports and wellness masseurs) a protocol has been drawn up to work safely. It new policy in practice Neptunus Wellbeing is based on this.

I would like to ask you to observe my new house rules when you come for treatment (see below). Read more about it new policy and all precautions.

What are protocols?

Around the general rules of RIVM translate to the realities of companies, there are protocols drawn up. That requires customization: how do you keep a treatment safe if you cannot maintain a distance of 1,5 meters for a while? Separate protocols are drawn up for each industry by industry and professional associations. Such a protocol is an advice, including tips for the organization of the work and the care for the client and the care provider. Ultimately, each entrepreneur decides, after professional consideration, how these advice can best be applied in a practical situation.

Ordered before paramedical professions a document has been drawn up by the Ministry of Health with conditions for upscaling regular care. The Professional Association KNGF recently came up with one guidance for physiotherapists and a new one hygiene protocol. These documents were approved by the State on April 30.

Since 1 May 2020, physiotherapists are allowed to return to work under certain conditions. From 11 May 2020, masseurs can fully resume their work. That is why a protocol has now also been drawn up for masseurs by NGS (trade association for sports and wellness masseurs).

How does it look new policies and precautions out with Neptune Wellbeing?

There are precautions for:

  • design and hygiene of the practice area
  • making an appointment
  • communication and information
  • procedure entry
  • method during the treatment
  • after treatment

What is important for you to know?

Be aware that the entrance and the practice area are cleaned and disinfected prior to each treatment. A 30-minute interval is always planned so that sufficient time is available for this. The waiting area cannot be used. The toilet and shower can only be used if it is disinfected before and after. The massage table is provided with a clean cover (washed at 60 degrees), face cover (1 time used) and a clean towel.

Can I (again) make an appointment for a treatment?

All coaching treatments are simply given. And from May 11, 2020 it is again possible to come by for a massage or bodywork. The following questions are asked when making an appointment by email, telephone or via SMS / WhatsApp:

The answers to these questions determine whether the appointment can go ahead. Are any of these questions answered with “Yes”? Then physical contact is in principle not possible. Are you vulnerable or would you rather not take public transport to the practice? Then wearing a surgical mouth mask is necessary and we can discuss whether I can come to your home for treatment.

Is wearing a mouth mask mandatory?

Due to the pre-check, wearing a mouth mask is not mandatory if all questions are answered with “No” in advance. But everyone is of course free to use it. I myself will use a face mask if our faces are less than a meter apart. And I will offer you a mouth cap, but you can also use a different type of protection.

How does it work when you enter?

  • Before the treatment I take an extensive shower. I want to ask you to take a shower at home beforehand.
  • Upon entering, there is kept 1,5 meters away and greet each other without shaking hands or hugging.
  • At the entrance of the practice you will be informed per poster about the (hygiene) measures.
  • You take off your shoes and immediately wash your hands with soap upon entering. You dry your hands with a towel that is then washed or with paper. Even after the treatment, we wash our hands with soap.
  • During the intake, coffee, tea or water is drunk from a disposable cup. We keep a distance of 1,5 meters and we are asked again about any complaints / symptoms.
  • We then discuss the working method and you give your oral agreement.

What do I need to know in advance about the procedure during the treatment?

  • Maybe it takes some getting used to that I wear a mask for massages or other treatments, where our faces are less than a meter apart.
  • I also offer you a mask. You can also choose to cover your head with a thin cloth or with a brought scarf.
  • I continue working with bare arms and contact with clothing is avoided. When I'm close to you, we talk as little as possible.

I am happy to welcome everyone again in this way. I realize that this policy is quite in demand, also from you. But together we ensure that everyone can be treated in a responsible manner.

Breath and energy work without touch

Do you also provide breath and energy work without touch?

Yes, a session can be done without touching and can therefore also be given online. Breath and energy work has to do with intimacy and generating life energy. A ritual without touch also involves self-examination, both physical and spiritual. Such a ritual can be done online or face-to-face, at your home or in one of my practice rooms. The personal involvement provides a different form of intimacy.

I provide different types of online sessions, focused on sharing your love/sensuality, coaching couples, coaching in mindfulness meditation techniques, breathwork, teaching massage skills, mentoring in touching and massaging yourself. I usually do this 1-on-1 and on request I also organize this for couples, or with two or a maximum of three participants.

How can you work with energy remotely?

I do not give a Reiki session, but I teach you ways to awaken life energy within yourself. I help you to establish a deeper connection with your body, so that you can feel more. Together we will identify your energetic blockages. Breathing and (self)touch reduce resistance in those places. The flow is strengthened and the experience of your sensuality becomes more intense.

What can such a session look like?

Usually we start with a cup of tea and discuss what you find pleasant, fine and exciting. Then I give a guided meditation. You will experience how your life energy flows along your spine and warms you from the inside. I combine meditation with breathing exercises. By breathing more consciously, you wake up cells and you come to life even more. The electricity that flows through your connective tissue and nerves is getting more going again. This creates a subtle soft tingling through your body.

After meditation and breathing we move together, we follow each other's movements. We are guided by the music and this turns into dance. Then we do an undressing ritual, in which we remove one piece of clothing slowly and sensually. While making eye contact, we both touch ourselves. The meditative preparation makes the experience of that touch more intense. Experiencing your own self-love and connection with each other can be a moving experience. You enjoy your own body, your love for yourself and your life energy. We explore our sensual places and let ourselves be inspired by each other.

Costs online breath and energy work session

An online session is € 10,00 cheaper than regular treatment. Shorter sessions than usual are also possible (normally a session is at least 90 minutes).

Massage and prevention of new Coronavirus

Message of 03-03-2020

You may be worried about the spread of the new Corona virus (SARS-CoV-2) in Europe. There is no reason to panic and you can safely drop by for a treatment or participate in massage workshops. But take some precautions into account. I do that as well.

What precautions do you take with a normal massage?

I attach great importance to personal hygiene, especially when I massage someone, so that I stay healthy and my clients are not at risk of infection. For that reason I always shower before a treatment and wash my hands with soap before and afterwards. I also use a finger condom if necessary (eg with anal massage). I always have disinfectant gel at hand to remove any bodily fluids from myself or the client. And I advise clients to reschedule their appointment if they have a fever or other flu symptoms. In addition to this usual hygiene, no extra precautions are required for the prevention of the Coronavirus.

Fingerling / finger condom

What precautions are taken at massage workshops?

At the workshops and meetups that I organize, we have taken the necessary precautions. Agreements had already been made to ensure good hygiene:

  • We ask the participants to shower beforehand and to cut their nails.
  • Always sit / lie on the same screen during the workshop.
  • All linen that is present is always washed at a minimum of 60 degrees Celsius.

To prevent the spread of the new Coronavirus, largely the same measures and agreements apply that we made earlier in the workshops to prevent STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) and all viruses that can cause flu and colds. This is in accordance with the advice of the RIVM (See: https://www.rivm.nl/coronavirus/covid-19).

These are the measures that apply at meetings:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water before and during the break.
  • Cough and sneeze in the inside of your elbow.
  • Use a tissue paper and / or disinfectant (especially if you come into contact with your own or others' body juices).
  • In case of fever, cough and flu-like symptoms, we ask you to cancel in time and stay home, especially if you have recently been traveling.

Sufficient clean linen, bottles of liquid soap and disinfectant are available at every workshop. And we help remind everyone of these agreements. I hope to meet you again soon at one of the many great workshops. You can find the data in the Meetup groups below.

Movement meditation brings you inside

Meditation by sitting still is quite difficult for most people, because we are used to being exposed to stimuli all day long. And if you spend a lot of time behind the desk or in the car, your body needs movement. During or after exercise you can sometimes also experience the silence and tranquility within yourself. Movement meditation ensures that you find peace much quicker and that you focus more on your attention.

How does that work, a movement meditation?

You make an inner journey through an alternation of intensive and subtle movement, music and silence. By focusing on your body, you become aware of your emotional world, what is going on in your body, and in your thoughts.

We always move very slowly. Slowness allows us to perceive more of the individual movements within a larger movement. For example, if you put an arm straight up quickly, you probably only notice the single upward movement - but if you do it slowly, we observe many separate events in the body, such as contractions of different muscles and the adjustments in the joints as they adapt to the changing positions and the altered balance, the warmth that arises and the gentle stretching of connective tissue.

Forms of movement meditation

There are all kinds of forms of movement meditation, such as Eastern classical movement theory such as yoga, chi-gong and tai-chi. Modern, active forms of movement meditation have been developed by Osho, among others, including “dynamic meditation”. And more subtle, slow shapes such as Continuum Movement by choreographer Anna Halprin.

Osho: "By bringing consciousness down from the brain to the source, to the roots, there is the possibility of transformation."

Embodiment through movement meditation

Can your body also be an entrance to spirituality?

Most people accept the idea that the mind can be a tool for spiritual exploration; we use the mind in most types of meditation and in reading religious literature. The emotions (especially love) are another form of spiritual inquiry; consider the devotional approach of some religions. The concept that the body can also provide an arena for spiritual exploration may seem ludicrous, especially in cultures and religions where the body is considered the 'enemy' of the soul, along with sexuality, the feminine principle, the physical world, and our humanity. However, some religious practices - especially Tantra - see the body as a means by which we can study and express our psychological and spiritual nature.

Why make contact with your body?

The slow movements of a movement meditation create a calm mind. The body lives in a world that is free of concepts and views. The perception of your body automatically takes you to a state without judgment. Because the body is part of the physical world, motion meditation helps us to understand the nature and holiness of this world. By paying attention to your body, you become aware of pain, tension, blockages and emotions. The body is connected to your soul and you can heal yourself by paying this attention to yourself. We can learn about life that is constantly changing and always moving, because our body is full of life energy and movement. Even when we are still, you can feel the movement of your heartbeat, your breathing and the small muscle contractions.

Tijs Breuer regularly organizes a movement meditation. You can participate both online and on location in Tienhoven (Utrecht). Look in the Group Embodied op Meetup for the details.

Easter retreat days for men

9 - 12 April 2020 in Tienhoven (Utrecht)

“A precious gift, these silent solstice days,” wrote a participant of the midwinter retreat. Around Easter Mischa and I are organizing again a few days to create some time for yourself. Time to connect with the stillness within yourself and reconnect with your embodiment. We can reflect on what is happening in ourselves, in our lives and our personal development.

Together with a maximum of 6 participants per day, we celebrate Easter in a different way. We do this with meditation in motion, yin yoga, healthy (vegetarian) food and - of course - our great massages. Quiet moments and the surrounding nature give you the space and time to calm your mind and soul.

You can choose to spend one or more days with us if you wish. Every day we offer a day start with yin yoga, a shared lunch, exercise meditation, a moment of sharing and the possibility to receive massage treatments during the day. Prices from € 40,00.

Choose from a nice mix of treatments in combination with rest and exercise. This can be adjusted to your individual needs and goals. You have enough time for yourself to walk, cycle, jump in the sauna or in the lake and do some sightseeing or canoeing. And if you are in the mood, you can make contact with the other participating men. Accommodation in Tienhoven and dinner are not part of the shared program, but can also be arranged.

This retreat is facilitated by Mischa van Dullemen and Tijs Breuer. Mischa's Yin Yoga is down to earth, peaceful, energetic and accessible to both novice and more experienced participants. His traditional Thai massages will stretch your body in great positions. The meditations of Tijs are perceptive and embodied, the movement will prevent you from entering your head. His massages and bodywork are deep, intimate and sensual.

Time for tranquility and a warm, loving touch

Happy New Year! In this newsletter I give you attractive offers for yourself and to make someone else happy. And I offer you some inspiration to get through the cold winter. Because it is getting lighter every day, but nature invites you to calm down and takes the time to get moving. Could you use some extra warm loving touch? Then consider a four-hand massage.

Perhaps you had already seen it: since a few months I have had a new logo (see below). My massage and coaching website has also been integrated and moved to a different URL: https://www.neptunus-wellbeing.nl. Read in this newsletter about Myofascial Energetic Release (MER) and about the ritual of the senses, two examples of treatments in which body, feeling and energy reinforce each other.

You will receive an email from me no more than four times a year. And you can stop this newsletter at any time. Feel free to send the newsletter to others or make someone happy with a gift voucher. Hopefully we will see each other again soon in my practice or at one of the meetups.

Four hands massage
Do you want to give yourself or a good friend something unique during this cold period? A four-hand massage is a special experience. Your body is touched in several places at the same time. You are stretched, gently stroking softly, then firmly kneaded loose again. Your senses open and your thoughts can no longer follow what is happening. That is how you get into the surrender, in the moment.

Special offer for readers of this newsletter
You will receive one from January 1 to February 21, 2020 four-hand tantra massage van Tijs with Franscis or with Dennis for the price of a four-hand relaxation massage (€ 170,00 instead of € 200,00).

Ritual of the senses
Do you find moments to re-enter in the hectic pace of everyday life? In nature, everything now stands still for a moment. Life has retreated to the roots of the trees and many animals are hibernating. This dark time invites you to repent, contemplate and find peace in yourself. By listening to what is happening in your body, you discover the silence within yourself. From there you will find inspiration for the new year. What was not time for before can now come up. With massage, coaching, bodywork and short retreats I can help you get even closer to yourself. For example with a ritual of the senses. Experience such a ritual now with a € 30 discount!

Myofascial Energetic Release
MER is a holistic form of deep body work developed by Satyarthi Peloquin. It helps to address the cause of pain, limitation of movement and blockages in the body by softening chronic contractions in the tissue. The method also has an effect on the underlying emotional and psychological pain, of which you were often unaware. For example, it helps if you suffer from depression, or if you are at a point of transformation in your life. As a reader of this newsletter you will receive until April 1, 2020 € 30 discount on a first EIA treatment

Pelvic floor complaints in men

Complaints in the pelvic area do not only occur with women, but also with men. Men, however, tend to pay less attention to it or talk less easily about their complaints. With massage of the pelvic floor and conscious control over the pelvic floor muscles and the muscles in your abdomen, lower back and pelvis you can get rid of your complaints.

I have pain in my pelvic floor. Can massage help with this?

Many men think that problems in the pelvic floor only occur in women. They are ashamed if they have pain in their penis or anus or suffer from urine loss. Yet these complaints are common. I often receive clients who have been referred to a masseur by a pelvic physiotherapist or specialist.

A pelvic floor massage can help prevent and solve problems around the pelvic floor. The muscles in your lower back, abdomen and pelvis play a major role in posture and movement. The pelvic floor muscles have an important task with urinating, making love and relieving. Those muscles can be too weak or too tense. It also happens that they do not do their work at the right time. We are not used to consciously contracting or relaxing the muscles in the pelvic area. We often start to feel them when there is pain.

What are possible causes of complaints in the pelvic area of men?

  • The pelvic floor muscles can be too tense due to, for example, delaying urination for too long, previous problems in the abdominal or pelvic floor area or a certain lifestyle.
  • The pelvic floor muscles can be too weak in the older man or because, for example, there is incorrect lifting during work, prolonged and frequent pressing with the (hardened) stool or due to anal penetration.
  • Pelvic floor muscles can also contract in the wrong way and at the wrong time, for example by pushing during urination, whereby the muscles contract instead of relaxing.

Which complaints can give rise to a pelvic floor massage?

Tension and pain complaints in the pelvis

  • Pain around the anus, but also cramps in the anus and anal fissures (cracks)
  • Pain in the scrotum (ball bag)
  • Pain in the penis
  • Sore or pelvic pain
  • Groin pain or pain in the lower abdomen

Urinary problems:

  • Frequent (urge to) urinate and / or urinate small amounts
  • Unable to stop the pee
  • Reduced jet with puddles
  • Peeing is difficult to get started
  • Always interrupting the puddle
  • Urinary loss (eg after prostate surgery)
  • Drip

Relief problems:

  • Often urge to relieve
  • Relieve (little) often
  • Feeling of being unable to stop or loss of stool
  • Blockage (constipation) or unable to relieve properly / completely

Sexual problems:

  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Problems with cumshot

What can Tijs Breuer do for you as a masseur?

We will discuss your complaints during an intake interview. Afterwards, we explore during an introductory massage where your sensitive and painful spots are in the pelvic area. During a follow-up treatment the emphasis may be on reducing muscle tension, releasing blockages and emotions or, for example, internal anal touch, whereby the tension, functions and strength of the pelvic floor muscles are felt through palpation. Such treatments are often intimate. That is why a lot of attention is always paid to safety and trust.

Ritual of the senses

  • Ceremony to open your senses

Would you like to experience something different than a "normal" massage? A ritual of the senses is not a massage, but a special initiation. You experience that breath and energy work can help you turn inward in a nice, gentle way.

This ceremony helps you to let go of daily life, to awaken your sensitivity and to make you more sensual. You experience intimacy, love and safety while your skin, your tongue your eyes and ears are stroked with soft impulses.

To better focus on your inner sensations, you will receive a blindfold. In a warm and atmospheric space you will be taken on a fantasy journey. Along the way you will get to know a wide range of surprising and wonderfully sensual experiences that go far beyond your daily impressions. You will relax, enjoy the small moments of pleasure and open your heart more and more.
