Massage oil

The massage oils I use are organic, vegetable and by myself artisaned enriched with extracts of herbs and flowers.

I only use natural, organic products of the very best quality. The oils are pressed and distilled from seeds, plants, flowers, trees and roots. The oil that is released contains the active ingredients that nourish your skin, so that it recovers and becomes soft and supple.

The composition is such that there is enough friction on the skin during the massage and at the same time the skin can absorb the oil well, so you do not feel sticky after the massage. The main component, almond oil, contains a lot of vitamins A and B, Calcium, Iron and Magnesium and is very suitable for dry, mature skin.

Almond oil

The oil that I use consists mainly of almond oil, jojoba, olive oil and sunflower oil. These oils have the following properties:

  • Almond oil: neutral oil suitable for dry and irritated skin, nourishes the skin with vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and E
  • Sunflower oil: improves circulation, is thin and supple and glides well because it is less likely to penetrate the skin.
  • Jojoba oil: neutral oil very suitable because of its long shelf life
  • Olive oil: fatty oil that absorbs slowly and has a soothing effect (olive oil does have a strong scent that can predominate)
  • Sesame oil: Traditional in Ayurvedic Medicine
  • Wheat germ oil: thick liquid oil, contains a lot of Vitamin E
  • Grapeseed oil: absorbs quickly and neutral of smell

Why do not you usually use oil based on paraffin?

A lot of massage oil in the store mainly consists of mineral components, such as Vaseline or paraffin. These chemicals are absorbed worse and close your skin too much. This can cause painful friction. This oil is also less nourishing for your skin. However, if you are allergic to nut oils, a paraffin oil can be a good alternative.

Do you also give massages with an odorless oil?

Many clients would like to be massaged with an odorless oil, for example because they then continue to work. You can choose neutral, odorless oil, without added herbs or essential oil,

You can also opt for a shower after the massage. In that case, I recommend a more restorative, healing oil that contains marigold, rose, lavender, and other herbs. The scent of the oil influences your state of mind and the active ingredients from the herbs provide a new balance in your body.

I suffer from sensitive skin. Can I be massaged?

Sensitive skin can be recognized by various symptoms, such as a tight feeling, dry and chapped spots, red spots and a rash or itching. These usually become stronger when your body is weakened, for example due to fatigue or stress. The seasons play an important role here. Often the skin becomes more sensitive in winter, when the temperature and humidity inside and outside are different. A hot shower dries out the skin and can intensify the complaints. The massage oil I use is suitable for sensitive skin and free from synthetic additives such as colors, fragrances and preservatives. Such synthetic additives can irritate the skin unnecessarily.

Preparation

How do I prepare for a massage?

Take plenty of time in advance, relax with a lovely shower and drink a glass of tea or water. Avoid using mascara, make-up or highly scented deodorants. Leave jewelry, etc. at home. Wear comfortable clothes that are not sensitive to massage oil.

Glass of water

Plan your appointment carefully, take plenty of time for yourself after your relaxation massage. You don't have to bring anything. Shaving is also not necessary, but you can, whatever you prefer. I do appreciate it if you are a bit fresh. So take a shower beforehand, or on arrival (shower is also possible here).

What do I have to bring along?
In principle you do not need to bring anything. If you suffer from athlete's foot, bring a pair of clean socks that you can put on in practice. If you want to use your own bath, fitted sheet or massage oil, you can. Keep in mind that after the massage your pores are open, so it can feel extra cold when you go home.

Sport and massage

What effect does a massage have after exercise?

A massage helps to keep your skin and muscles healthy. If you exercise a lot, waste products accumulate in your muscle and connective tissue. With a good massage, these substances are removed, so that you achieve better sports performance. That is why many top athletes receive a massage every day.

Can I be massaged in serious pain?

In case of muscle aches and stuck muscles you can feel free to undergo a massage. Please indicate in advance which complaints you have. Then I can give extra attention and if necessary see if something else is going on. However, I am not specialized in the treatment of serious physical complaints. In that case, I will refer you to the GP or a specialist.

How is a sports massage built?

I usually start with 'intermittent pressing' on the back, which triggers the removal of waste from the connective tissue. Then I massage the back and shoulders, I make the muscles flexible and knead where tension is stuck. In addition, I also remove the lactic acid that causes the muscle pain (if you suffer from it) and I tackle knots. Then the legs and usually the buttocks, everything according to your wishes and needs. Depending on the time, I do feet and front, including the arms.

Naked or dressed

Is a massage exposed or with clothes on?

You decide that yourself. Certain massages, such as a chair (back) massage, a polarity massage or a Thai massage, can easily be given with clothes on. A Swedish oil massage is given on bare skin, but underwear can remain on if you feel more comfortable doing so.

Most customers prefer to lie on the massage table, because you are well covered with cloth and blanket. When it's fresh, I put an electric blanket on the table so that your body stays warm. Men also usually take off their pants, so that I can also massage their lower back, buttocks and legs. Many women keep their underwear on, but do their bra.

Music, talking or silence

I turn off my phone prior to the massage. It is nice if you do that yourself, so that you are not disturbed during the massage.

What kind of music do you like during the massage?

Usually I play peaceful classical music, sometimes relaxing new-age music especially for massage. I take into account your wishes. A massage can also take place in complete silence.

Can I talk during a massage?

You can just during a massage. Remember that massage is pure for relaxation. One person likes to talk, the other person thinks it's wonderful to be quiet and to doze off a bit during the massage. The choice is entirely yours.
