Coaching Code of Conduct

Coaching takes place in accordance with the Code of conduct for professional companions of ST! R.

STiR's code of conduct only applies to coaching. For body work, massage and for tantra other quality assurance and other arrangements, which you will find elsewhere on this site, such as the code of conduct for tantra professionals.

In addition, I show the utmost care when dealing with confidential information and I do not disclose anything about the treatment or the person. I work with integrity and expertise. I will never allow my actions to be influenced by business, personal, religious, political or ideological interests.

I work carefully, making responsible choices in supervision. I am aware of transference and countertransference situations. And I abstain from behavior that could damage trust in professional guidance.”

Confidentiality Committee

In connection with this code of conduct, St! R has one trust committee, Disciplinary and one complaints regulation. Further information about quality, the applicable rules of conduct and regulations can be found on the website of ST! R.

Code of conduct professional counselors

Below you can read the full STiR . code of conduct.

1 - Definitions

  • The code of conduct applies to every coach, supervisor or other professional counselor who is registered with StiR;
  • This coach, supervisor or other professional counselor is further described in this code
    referred to as the professional supervisor;
  • The coachee, supervisee or other person to be supervised is further referred to in this code as the client;
  • If the assignment for the supervision has been issued by a client other than the client, this will be referred to as an external client.


2 – General

  • The professional counselor shows respect for the person and the privacy of the client and for the person or organization of the external client;
  • The professional counselor strives for integrity in his professional practice;
  • The professional counselor strives to acquire and maintain a high level of expertise in his professional practice;
  • The professional counselor strives to make responsible choices in
    accordance with the role of facilitator as agreed in the contract;
  • The professional counselor refrains from behavior that undermines confidence in the
    can harm professional guidance.


3 – Assignment

The professional counselor ensures that he gives a correct picture to both the client and the external client of the guidance he offers and of the degree of his expertise and experience;

The professional counselor does not accept assignments that are outside his expertise and/or experience, and in that case advises the client to turn to another professional counselor;

If the assignment agreement has been concluded, the professional
supervisor ensures that the conditions and purpose of that assignment are laid down in writing in a contract;

In that contract at least the following matters are dealt with:
• the purpose of the assignment
• the financial conditions
• the manner in which reports are made to the client and the external client
• the applicability of this code of conduct


4 – Confidentiality

  • The professional counselor ensures that he observes confidentiality towards the client at all times, that the client's file is kept carefully and in a safe place;
  • The professional counselor shows the utmost care in dealing with confidential information and does not reveal anything, either verbally or in writing, unless the client has given explicit permission for this in advance;
  • No announcements or reports are made to the external client either
    released or made available for inspection without the explicit permission of the client;
  • Has the client given permission to report in writing to the external
    client, then the client will be given the opportunity to view the draft of that report and provide comments.
  • The client has the right at all times to revoke a previously granted permission to report to the external client.


5 – Integrity

  • The professional counselor only acts in accordance with his contractually agreed contribution to the purpose of the assignment and will not allow his actions to be influenced by his business, personal, religious, political or ideological interests;
  • The professional counselor recognizes the difficulties that can arise because the client and the external client may have different interests. If that situation arises, he will report this to both parties as soon as possible and make it clear to them how he will deal with those different interests;
  • If those interests prove to be incompatible, the professional adviser will not accept the assignment or will terminate it immediately;
  • The professional counselor recognizes the difficulties that can arise from the
    simultaneously or sequentially fulfilling different professional roles vis-à-vis one or more involved parties and carefully assesses whether it is acceptable to fulfill several roles one after the other or in parallel;
  • If the professional counselor fulfills different roles, he ensures that he provides complete clarity about those different roles with regard to those involved.


6 – Relationship

  • The professional counselor avoids any sexual contact and any sexual relationship with the client at all times;
  • The professional counselor strives to avoid a friendly relationship with the client. Should a friendly relationship nevertheless arise, the professional
  • supervisor ensures that his supervision is terminated as soon as possible and he cooperates in a careful transfer of the supervision to another professional supervisor.
